| Historic Renovation | Mixed-Use: Residential & Commercial Retail | Apartments |

145 Auburn Avenue, Atlanta, GA

This circa 1912, 2-story, 4700 SF historic building in the Sweet Auburn district was once home to the Atlanta Daily World newspaper. The building now boasts 2 commercial retail units on the ground level and 2 residential apartments on the upper level. In 2008, the building was severely damaged by a tornado, forcing the Atlanta Daily World newspaper to relocate. The building was abandoned until it was purchased by owner Gene Kansas in 2014.

I worked on the project from the planning stages up until CD's. My responsibilities included integrating the as-built drawings from Land Air Surveying, space planning, demolition and proposed design development drawings, working with the historic preservation specialist to determine which details were historically significant, attending city planning meetings, discussions with building reviewers, and code research. The project was handed off to a junior project manager for completion of construction drawings.

The building was re-opened on March 12, 2015.
